Allergy Immunotherapy Services

Allergy serum and orders must be sent directly from your allergist. As part of our quality control program and commitment to patient safety we do not accept hand carried vials of allergy serum. In turn, McKinley will return your vials to your allergist upon your request. A shipping charge will be applied to your student account for the return of vials to your allergist. We do not release allergy serum vials to students.

Prior to allergy appointments being scheduled with the Immunization and Travel Clinic, we must have your allergy serum and completed Allergy Injection Therapy Orders from your allergist.

Meningitis Vaccines

*The Illinois Department of Public Health has made available a meningococcal disease brochure for college students and their parents.

All 11 to 12 year olds should be vaccinated with a meningococcal conjugate vaccine. A booster dose is required after age 16 years (before age 22) for those entering the university. The conjugate vaccine covers 4 serotypes of the Neisseria meningitis bacteria. (Serotypes A, C, W, Y). Studies show the conjugate vaccine, first available in 2005 -- protection wanes after 5 years and a booster at age 16 is recommended. Brand names accepted include Menactra, MenQuadfi, Menveo, Nimenrix or Aramen.
