Medical Marijuana Policy
As a short-term student-based health center, McKinley caregivers do not authorize petitions for medical marijuana cards. With the legalization of marijuana in Illinois, there has been a large spike in applications for medical cards.
McKinley has a short-term treatment model due to resource limitations and the relatively short period a typical student is on campus. Our focus is to support student success where acute intervention can make a real difference. The appropriate use of medical marijuana is still awaiting the outcome of ongoing research and is generally authorized for the treatment of underlying chronic conditions under the ongoing care of a licensed specialist caregiver.
